I was in Shanghai for work, my first time there. I had only 2 days to spare at the end of my business so wanted to make the most of my time. I hired Ying to show me the city -- the first time I've ever hired a guide in any of the many cities I visit for work. It was the best decision I could have made.

Ying not only gave an excellent introduction to the city, she was a wealth of knowledge on history, architecture and culture. She took me places the guidebooks missed. At my request we visited the art district at Mogan Shan Lu. Having Ying by my side made the visit much more interesting. She was able to put the art in context for me, and translate information from the artists I would never had heard if I had been by myself.

Her rates were modest to begin with, but factoring in the cost of my lost time stumbling around on my own, it was an investment that paid off many times over. Ying's English is excellent, which of course made navigating the city so much easier. Should you be in need of a local guide there, I highly recommend her.

My e-mail address should be displayed with this comment (I think!). If you wish to contact me to verify this recommendation, feel free.

Ying is an absolute "MUST" for any first time Shanghai visitor. On my first day in Shanghai she took me around and through her introduction to Shanghai I became immediately familiar with the many ways of live in this enormous city. Thereafter I felt much more comfortable exploring Shanghai on my own, but without her initial 'start-up' I have no doubt it would have taken me much longer to properly acquaint myself with Shanghai.
Reasonable in price, charming in person, professional in every way, Ying is perfect for both business use and leisure travel. Book her early, as she might be busy (as I found out for subsequent days). Shanghai is a beautiful city with many treasures. You might as well have a pro show you Shanghai, rather than missing much of Shanghai's uniqueness.
